Anime Ascendants Free Ren, the Pass Carry

Free Ren is the S-tier exclusive people actually play. It is not a 50-gem Secret. It is not a UT raid 1–2% like Yuto. It is not a Cursed Academy evolution like Sukuno. It is the Mage Pass unit: you buy or earn the pass lane, you take the body, you raise it. Public lobbies are still 16-player online tower defense on desktop and mobile. Teammates can cover a leak. They cannot finish the pass for you.

What the kit actually does

Free Ren is a reliable damage dealer. That sentence is why the name sits in S next to Shonks and Orwin instead of in a pass-cosmetics footnote. It holds story, it holds early raids, and it does not ask you to win a 0.01% limited banner first.

It is not Sukuno. Sukuno is the line-AoE nuke you evolve from Itadoki on Cursed Academy. Free Ren is the exclusive you can actually own on week one of a paying account, or whenever the pass is the hole you chose to buy. Off-pass, do not invent a standard-banner rate. The 50-gem pool is Bolma, Senko, Orwin, Hosino, Megomu, Touci, Shonks. Free Ren is the other door.

Late upgrades still matter. A rank-one pass unit is not the clip. Cash has to exist, which is why this page will not shut up about Bolma. Raid bosses are sponges. Infinite HP bars are sponges. The exclusive only looks unfair after the tree is paid.

Shiny coats wait until account level 5. An evolved non-shiny Free Ren with a real trait still outruns a sparkly starter. Do not freeze the pass track to hunt a skin.

How to get Free Ren

1. Confirm the Mage Pass (or the live pass name in the client) is the obtainment path. If the pass is not in the shop, stop. Do not dump gems into a banner that does not list Free Ren.
2. Finish the pass track far enough that the unit actually drops into the index. Skipping the track is how people own a costume icon and no body.
3. Raise it enough that it survives the farm. You do not need a perfect trait on day one.
4. Evolve if the live kit has a tree. Pass exclusives sometimes still want a shop or quest piece. Check how to evolve and the live UI. Believe the UI.
5. Trait it. Ascendant or Singularity. Stop.

The Roblox group grant is Miki, not Free Ren. Join the group anyway. Miki is a filler exclusive. Free Ren is the pass carry. Mixing those two doors is how accounts wait on a group crate that will never print this name.

If you will not buy the pass, build Shonks, Hosoko, Touci, or an evolved Sukuno instead. That is a valid account. This page is for the door that is actually open.

Trait: Ascendant or Singularity, not Golden

Ascendant (one placement, personal stats plus a global buff) is the trait you want once Free Ren is the unit you actually place. Singularity is the personal-damage alternative with the same one-placement tax. Stop on either.

Golden does not belong here. Golden is the farm trait. Putting Golden on Free Ren turns an S-tier exclusive into a confused farmer and leaves Bolma on a worse roll. Putting Ascendant on Orwin is the matching mistake: the one-place cap fights the aura.

Because Ascendant and Singularity cap placements at one, the first tile you confirm is the tile you live with. Preview the range on the longest path. In a 16-player public, do not drop the one-place carry on a pocket someone else already filled.

Pair with Bolma and Orwin

Free Ren does not replace the economy. A lobby with three pass clones and no farmer still starves. The default triangle is:

• Carry: Free Ren on the long path, Ascendant or Singularity.
• Support: Orwin, aura overlapping that path. Supernova if you have it.
• Farm: Bolma on wave 1 (Senko until Bolma drops), Golden.

Place farm first, then Orwin where the packet touches the future carry tile, then Free Ren. Upgrade farm until income is a slope, then dump into Free Ren. Extra C-tier bodies steal cash from the tree that makes raid HP look fair.

Lock it in the team builder. Farm and support is the economy chapter if Golden is still on the wrong unit.

When to pick Free Ren versus Sukuno versus Yuto

You do not need every S name. You need one that you actually obtained this week.

Pick Free Ren when the Mage Pass is the door you can walk through and you want a reliable exclusive carry without a 1–2% raid drop or a Cursed Academy farm.

Pick Sukuno when you can run Cursed Academy and you want a dedicated line-AoE nuke. Sukuno is an evolution from Itadoki. See the Sukuno guide.

If Free Ren and Sukuno are both in the index, trait the one you place on the current queue. A Golden Free Ren plus an unevolved Sukuno is two mistakes wearing an S costume. Confirm the live row on the units tier list.

Crystal stones, duplicates, and Magic Tokens that could finish Free Ren should not go to Niruto Kid, Goko, or Luffo. Feed order when the pass is the door: finish the track → evolve if the tree exists → Golden the farm → trait the exclusive. Reverse that order and you own a pretty pass icon and a broke raid.

Free Ren is the Mage Pass S-tier exclusive: reliable DPS, not a 50-gem Secret, not a raid drop. Plant it with Bolma and Orwin, put Ascendant or Singularity on the carry — never Golden — and pick it over Sukuno or Yuto only when the pass is the door you can actually walk through this week.
