Anime Ascendants Portals, Fragments, and Event Shops

Portals in live Anime Ascendants are event and content instances, not story chapters. They do not unlock the raid node. They do not replace Cursed Academy. They do not print first-clear gems the way a new story act does. When a portal window is live, you farm it for fragments, event currency, and the unit the shop is actually selling. When the window closes, the farm closes. Ownership of what you already pulled usually stays. Public lobbies are still 16-player online tower defense on desktop and mobile. Teammates can help a clear. They cannot craft your portal for you.

This page is the portal routing sheet. Pair it with events for the calendar, codes for the apology strings, and raids so you do not confuse Seals of Sacrifice with Grief Seeds.

Portals are not story

Story is the unlock tree. You rush early chapters so raids exist and first-clear gems fund the 50-gem banner. Portals sit beside that tree as timed content. A Cycles of Fate portal does not count as Chapter 3. A winter portal you bought for gems is not a legend stage. If the raid node is still grey, go back to story mode before you live in a portal lobby.

Loadout is still the triangle: Bolma on wave 1, Orwin on the carry tile, one evolved nuke. Portal HP and modifiers can look unfair. Extra C-tier bodies still steal cash. Rebuild the board in the team builder instead of bringing the whole index.

Clock fragments and the Time Traveler craft

Cycles of Fate (the Madoka lane) is the portal people actually search. Clock fragments are the craft pieces. Reported drop chance sits around 4%. That is a fragment roll, not a unit roll. You run the event content. You collect fragments. You craft.

The craft target is the Secret Madoka / Time Traveler portal. Community reports put the craft around five or more fragments. Treat that as a reported threshold, not as a live tooltip we typed out of the client this morning. If the in-game recipe shows a different count, believe the recipe. Do not stop at four fragments because a video thumbnail said “secret.”

Homura Time Traveler comes from that crafted portal. Homura is the obtainable-if-you-play-the-event carry. Madoka is the secret people still record because the rate is cruel. Play the event. Craft the portal. Run it. Do not wait for the 50-gem banner to print either name. Banner rules live on how to summon.

If fragments are dry after a session, that is the 4% talking. Keep the farm unit on wave 1 and keep clearing the content that actually drops the piece. Switching to infinite will not craft Homura.

Grief Seeds and the event shop

Grief Seeds are the Cycles of Fate event currency. Spend them in the event shop, not as a souvenir. Timed shops expire. A stack of Seeds in the inventory after the window is a screenshot, not a kit. The same rule as Berserk Seals: finish the shop first, then chase the cruel secret if the gem stack can survive the rate.

What the shop sells changes with the patch. Read the live rows. Typical spends are evolution items, event materials, and convenience bundles. Do not convert Grief Seeds into a panic 50-gem ten-pull unless the shop is empty and the Seeds have nowhere else to go. How to evolve is the page that tells you which item is actually the spike.

Apology codes can dump Seeds into the pouch. That is fuel for the shop, not a reason to skip the shop. Redeem at Naruto or with the Codes button, then spend.

Air versus light (reported)

Community routing on the Time Traveler portal reports that air does more damage and light does less on that instance. Treat this as a reported matchup, not as a live-tested damage table from this wiki. If your clear leaks, try the element note before you reroll the carry. If the live tooltip disagrees, the tooltip wins.

Placement still matters more than a typing rumor. Line AoE wants a long path. Full AoE wants a pad. Orwin’s aura has to touch the tile. A Golden Bolma still has to exist on wave 1. Element talk is a last-mile tweak, not a substitute for farm and support.

Winter-era portals and gem shops

Winter-era portals were also sold for about 200 gems. That is a gem sink, not a fragment craft. Decide whether the portal is the hole before you tap buy. Two hundred gems is four standard summons. If you still lack Bolma or Orwin, the 50-gem banner is the better spend. If the winter portal is the only legal way to a current event unit, confirm it on events and buy it on purpose.

Do not buy every portal that appears in the shop because the portrait is glowing. Timed content is still a budget. Codes and first-clears fund summons; they also fund these 200-gem rows if you let them.

Two apology strings, not one

Portal patches shipped two different apology codes. They are not the same string and they are not the same payout.

Do not type SORRY4PORTALHBUG. That missing P is how people stand at Naruto for nothing. Do not paste the HP string expecting 20,000 Grief Seeds. Do not paste the portal-bug string expecting 2,500 Gems. Redeem each once. The in-game toast is the source of truth. Full list lives on the codes hub. Some roundups gate SORRY4PORTALHPBUG at level 4. If you just spawned, clear a few story acts and come back.

Spelling variants circulate on YouTube. Case-sensitive, no extra spaces, no invented !. If a toast says invalid, try the exact row above, then stop. Repeating a dead code will not un-expire it. Fresh strings still land in Discord first.

Spend the event shop first

The portal loop is linear when the window is live:

1. Redeem both apology strings if they still work.
2. Run the event content for clock fragments and Grief Seeds. Farm on wave 1.
3. Craft the Time Traveler / Secret Madoka portal once you have the reported fragment count.
4. Run that portal for Homura. Respect the reported air/light note if the clear leaks.
5. Empty the event shop. Then, and only then, decide whether the secret rate is a gem you can afford.
6. After the window, return to raids for tokens and legend stages for crystal stones.

A portal night that skips the shop to ten-pull a standard banner is the same mistake as skipping 250 Seals on Guts. The limited row leaves. The 50-gem banner does not.

Portals are timed instances with their own currency, not extra story acts. Clock fragments craft the Time Traveler portal, Homura comes from that portal, Grief Seeds belong in the shop, and the two apology codes are different strings. Spend the shop, then go back to raids. That is the portal plan, and Chapter 1 is not a substitute for it.
